# Product & Vendor Selection

9XGO does not aim to list every software product available in the market.

We focus on building a **curated software marketplace** with products that have a realistic opportunity to create value for **customers, vendors, and 9XGO**.

<Callout icon="target" color="blue">
  Quality and sales potential matter more than the number of products listed.
</Callout>

## What We Look For

A strong 9XGO opportunity usually combines:

| Area | What We Look For |
| --------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Product** | Useful, reliable software that solves a meaningful problem |
| **Market** | Clear customer demand and an identifiable market |
| **Offer** | Competitive pricing, licensing, and customer value |
| **Vendor** | Reliable vendor capable of supporting customers |
| **Sales** | Realistic opportunity to acquire customers |
| **Scalability** | Potential to grow sales efficiently |

## Software We May Prioritize

Different types of software can create different opportunities for 9XGO.

| Software Type | Why We May Prioritize It | Typical Opportunity |
| -------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------- |
| **Emerging SaaS** | Good product with a lesser-known brand that needs distribution | Deals, campaigns, direct sales |
| **Established SaaS** | Existing demand with a clear commercial opportunity | Reseller, referral, direct sales |
| **Open Source** | Can support additional commercial services | Licensing, hosting, support |
| **Enterprise Software** | Higher-value business use cases | Consultation and assisted sales |
| **Developer Products** | Clear technical audience | Marketplace sales |
| **Deal-Friendly Software** | Can support an attractive marketplace offer | Special deals and campaigns |
| **Business Software** | Solves important operational problems | Direct and assisted sales |

<Note>
  The software category alone does not qualify a product. Each product and vendor must still meet 9XGO's qualification requirements.
</Note>

## The Vendor Matters

A strong product with an unreliable vendor can become a poor marketplace opportunity.

9XGO looks for vendors who can:

* Own the product or have proper distribution rights
* Provide reliable customer support
* Maintain and update the product
* Fix significant bugs
* Handle additional customers
* Offer commercially viable terms
* Provide accurate product and licensing information
* Cooperate with 9XGO on sales and support

<Warning>
  A strong product with an unreliable vendor can create significant customer and operational risk.
</Warning>

## Vendor Profiles We Find Attractive

### Emerging Vendors

Emerging vendors can be particularly attractive when they have a strong product but need:

* Distribution
* Customer acquisition
* Visibility
* Sales support
* Market access

> A lesser-known product with strong fundamentals can sometimes be a better marketplace opportunity than a famous product that has little need for third-party distribution.

### Established Vendors

Established vendors can also be suitable when 9XGO can create a meaningful commercial opportunity through:

* Competitive pricing
* Reseller arrangements
* Referral partnerships
* Special offers
* Regional distribution
* Assisted sales
* Implementation services
* Strong customer demand

<Info>
  Brand recognition alone does not determine suitability. The commercial opportunity matters more.
</Info>

## What We Usually Avoid

A product or vendor may receive low priority when:

| Concern                  | Why It Matters                                  |
| ------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------- |
| **Unclear demand** | Customer acquisition may be difficult |
| **Weak differentiation** | Difficult to compete with existing alternatives |
| **Poor pricing** | Customers may not see sufficient value |
| **Low margin** | Sales may not justify the resources required |
| **Weak vendor support** | Creates customer and operational risk |
| **Unclear rights** | Creates licensing and legal risk |
| **Poor product quality** | Can result in refunds and complaints |
| **Limited scalability** | Difficult to grow sales efficiently |

## From Selection to Sales

9XGO follows a selective approach rather than investing heavily in every product.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Research">
    Research the product, vendor, market, customer demand, and competition.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Qualify">
    Evaluate product quality, licensing, vendor capability, pricing, customer value, and commercial potential.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select">
    Prioritize the strongest products and vendors.
  </Step>

  <Step title="List">
    Make qualified products available on 9XGO.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Test">
    Measure real customer interest and sales performance.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Scale">
    Increase sales and marketing resources behind products that demonstrate strong potential.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## The 9XGO Selection Question

Before giving a product significant sales or marketing resources, we ask:

<Callout icon="circle-question" color="blue">
  Is there a clear reason for 9XGO to invest its time, sales effort, customer acquisition resources, and marketing budget in this opportunity?
</Callout>

A strong answer could be:

* Customers are actively looking for the solution
* The vendor needs additional distribution
* 9XGO can provide better value or access
* The product has strong sales potential
* 9XGO can reach the relevant customer audience
* The vendor can support the expected customer volume
* The commercial arrangement is attractive

If there is no sufficiently strong answer, the product may remain a **low-priority listing**, receive limited testing, or not be selected.

## Listing Does Not Mean Promotion

Selection and sales investment are separate decisions.

| Status                | Meaning                                                        |
| --------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Listed** | Available for customers to discover |
| **Approved for Sale** | Suitable for active selling through 9XGO |
| **Campaign Selected** | Suitable for stronger promotional or paid marketing investment |

<Note>
  A product can move between these levels as customer feedback, vendor performance, sales data, and market conditions change.
</Note>

## Core Principle

<Callout icon="sparkles" color="green">
  9XGO would rather have a smaller portfolio of strong, sellable products than a large catalog with little sales potential.
</Callout>

Our ideal opportunity creates value for all three sides:

| Customer                                     | Vendor                                          | 9XGO                                      |
| -------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------- |
| Gets a useful solution at a compelling value | Gets distribution, customers, and market access | Gets a sustainable commercial opportunity |

## Our Selection Formula

<Callout icon="arrow-right" color="blue">
  Good Product + Real Demand + Reliable Vendor + Attractive Offer + Sales Potential = Strong 9XGO Opportunity
